Excerpt from a recent interview of The Bulimic Bohemian by Cool Hunting:
CH: Why the Bulimic Bohemian?
TBB: Being a blogger, a dj, a graphic designer I am someone who needs the internet. I use it. I need other people to consume what I create. And in turn, in order to stay up to date, to be fresh, to curate in the current culture I must consume. I must consume perhaps even more than those that I rely on. Ultimately, I want to consume more than anyone so it is I who is presenting the digital ephemera to them under my artistic influence. Therefore, I binge. I hoard culture in spurts. Those in my cypher say that I “whore it”. It’s an amalgam of the verb to hoard and the meaning of whore. Soullessly I become a function: x is put in and y is shot out. Chasing the euphoric high of over-consumption is the nausea, the regret, the overwhelming feeling of hatred. And so I must purge. I must empty it all out. I spew my downloaded songs out in the form of mixes. I regurgitate memes on my facebook and in gchat statuses. And fulfilling the pathology that is the bulimic bohemian I vomit out disdain, overshadowing my self-loathing, for all those involved in the aspects of our online, networked life.
